Mexborough and Swinton Times July 2, 1937
A large part in Brampton’s triumph on Saturday over Elsecar was played by Raymond Denton, who opened the innings with A Smith and was undefeated at the end. He made 83 and all the maturity of style of this old Council player came into prominence.
He batted powerfully and with discrimination. It was a joy to see him select the “dud” ball and drive it accurately between the well-placed field.
I shall be glad to hear of Denton again. He is enjoying a very successful season, and at the beginning of the season has featured for four weeks in the honours list.
