A Wombwell “Stable”

Albert Brown is trying to popularise boxing in the Wombwell and Cortonwood districts.  He has a school of smart lads, training at the Brampton Welfare Institute but the accommodation is limited and he is negotiating for some spacious quarters.

Sparring partners are urgently required on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

Young Waddington, one of the lads, opposed Ted Sayles of Barnsley last week-end but lost on points. Sayles, who resides at Smithies, formerly lived at Darfield.  He is a clean crisp fighter, but lacks a heavy punch.
