Billy Bird – Station Lane

Billy Bird (Station Lane) is responsible for much of his club’s success this season.

A centre-half, Bird formerly played for Darfield St. George’s and was offered trials with Wolverhampton and Birmingham but before he could take advantage of them, broke his leg.  He turned out for the “Road” early this season and has played consistently throughout.

Station Lane are hoping to bring off the “double” – Nelson League and Beckett Cup.  Principal scorers this turn are Dobson (35), Thackray (19), Wheatcroft (17), N. Wainwright (16) and Nuttall (10).
