Bicycle Accident at Wombwell

A serious accident befell George, the son of Mr. Michael Washington, schoolmaster, Wombwell yesterday morning. He is employed as weighing clerk at Darfield Main Colliery, to which place he usually proceeds on bicycle.

This time, however, he came into unfortunate collision at the Littlefield Lane crossing, where the gates were being opened to admit a horse and cart passing. The young fellow was thrown heavily to the ground, and had his face cut badly, besides being bruised all over his body. He was picked up insensible and was conveyed home.

Dr. Foley was called in, and had to stitch up a cut from the top to the bottom of the patient’s right cheek. The young man will be laid up for some time.
