Millership Scores for Barnsley in Draw with Wombwell.
Barnsley Reserves 1 Wombwell 1
The chief attraction at the match between Barnsley Reserves and. Wombwell, at Oakwell, was Millership, Barnsley’s newly-acquired International back. He played a cool, methodical game, without extending himself, and after Kay had missed one penalty for Barnsley, Millership converted another “spot ” late in the game and so neutralised an earlier goal, scored for visitors by Kennedy.
Kennedy was a great obstructionist at centre half-back, and was chiefly responsible for his side sharing the spoils.
It was a ragged game. Barnsley were greatly superior in midfield and pressed sufficiently to win by a substantial margin, but the forwards did not shoot often enough, trying to walk the ball through. Wombwell’s defence was always vigorous and strong.
