Lions Have Wings

Among the little Wombwell “lions” who have wings is Leslie Shields (18) son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Shields, of Barnsley Road, Wombwell, and grandson of Mr. James Lines, of 42, Mellor Road, Wombwell.

Leslie left John Street Council School, Wombwell, to work at Darfield Main Colliery, but the Air Force called him and he enlisted at the first opportunity.

He is now getting well bedded down to the work somewhere in England.
