Wombwell Airman
Flt-Sgt. Charles Brian Flint (21), son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Flint, 214 Barnsley Road, Wombwell, an old boy of Barnsley Grammar School, boy is now serving with the R.A.F. in the Central Mediterranean area. He joined the R.A.F. at the age of 18, having previously been in the A.T.C. at Barnsley and received his early training in this country.
He qualified as an Observer after farther training in Nova Scotia, Quebec, and Ontario and on return to England was posted to Coastal Command. Sgt Flint won a County Minor scholarship. At John Street Council School, Wombwell, and later was employed in the time office at Mitchell Main Colliery.
He was formerly a drummer in the Wombwell Company of the C.L.B. and was prominent in football and boxing circles.
His brother, Pte. Maurice Flint (29), 90, Blythe Street, Wombwell, has been a prisoner of war for nearly four years and his sister, Joan, has worked in an aircraft factory for over two years.
