Accident

A boy named Timms, of Broomhill, was badly braised and shaken in an accident in Broomhill Lane, Wombwell, on Sunday. The boy, who was riding a bicycle, crossed the road in front of a car driven by Allen Disney, provision merchants of Park Street, and was knocked down. The Rev’. R. H. Goode, who had been to early morning service at Broomhill, was the only other witness of the accident.

Drowning Rescue.

A young man named Gascoyne, of New Scarboro’, was the hero of a plucky rescue from drowning at Keadby on Saturday Gascoyne was fishing near the road-aide along with a number of friends, when a lady cyclist lost control of her machine and ran into deep water. Gascoyne immediately plunged to her rescue and brought her to the bank when it was found that her foot was locked in the wheel of the machine.

Smart Canal Rescue.

Arthur Turton, New Street, Hemingfield, narrowly escaped drowning in the canal at Elsecar on Friday. Arthur Walker, Garden Grove, Hemingfield, and another youth saw him fall into the water and immediately went to his rescue.

One reached into the water while the other held his legs, and by that means they were able to bring him to the side where artificial respiration was applied with success. Walker and the other youth practised life-saving at the Wombwell Baths.
