Accident at Cortonwood Colliery
A young man named Thomas Thompson, employed in the screens at the Cortonwood Colliery was following his employment yesterday morning, being engaged in shunting some wagons under the screens.
As he was working at the low level, a wagon was allowed to descend from the high level, and not aware of its approach he was caught between the buffers.
He was released and conveyed to his home at Winterwell Road West Melton, when he now lies in a critical condition, suffering from severe internal injuries.
