A Wombwell International

Wombwell is honoured in having a representative in the side chosen to play football for the Yorkshire area of the N.U.M. Against the Scottish Mineworkers Union at Edinburgh on May 8th.

He is Roy Cooling, the Mitchell Main cricketer and Denaby United footballer. He has been selected at inside right. Roy was chosen on the nomination of Coun. T. A. Newsome, secretary of Mitchell Main branch of the N.U.M., to whom the Scottish miners’ union wrote asking if he could recommend a player suitable for this match.

Roy at one time played for Barnsley and also had a long run with Scarborough. The family have been associated with Mitchell Main for many years.
