A Wet Pitch !
This pretty scene might have been snapped on any one of a dozen football grounds in this district. As a matter of fact it shows members of the Wombwell Station Lane Club carrying into effect a decision to desert a ground that is now little use for any but aquatic games.
The Worsboro’ Bridge club had to make a much more hasty “flit” last Saturday to get their Barnsley Challenge Cup tie with Darfield played; and they got the job completed just in time—a notable piece of slickness.
It is rather difficult to strangers to understand why football and cricket thrive so much better than water polo in this country; for a year cricket and football have known scarce anything but the wet pitch.
