Missing Man
A Wombwell Mystery
John Thomas Wiggitt, a farm labourer of 13 Pickup Crescent, Kings Road, Wombwell, has been missing from home since October 17.
On that day he left the house about 8 a.m. informing his wife that he was going to seek work and expected to return about three. Since he has neither been seen nor heard of in the district, nor have the police been able to trace him.
Mrs Wiggitt fears that her husband may have come to some harm. She has been left with six children, only one of them working. Wiggitt had been out with some time and was depressed in consequence.
“He had to go to Barnsley to draw relief,” Mrs Wiggitt told our representative, “and the last time he went he remarked, “if I cannot get a living without having to walk to Barnsley for it I will do away with myself.”
Mrs Wiggitt says her husband had not been in good health, and latterly he has been “troubled with his head.” She has visited all the farms in the district in the hope of tracing him as also visited relatives have this it, whom he has visited occasionally.
When he left on Wiggitt was wearing a dark blue suit, dark grey cap, and an old pair of boots
