Wombwell Miner Killed

An inquest was held yesterday on Pat McGowan (20), miner, 62 Hawson Street Wombwell, was knocked down by a motor car late on Saturday night and the high road near Stairfoot.

The man was worse for drink and was staggering about the road when he was knocked down. The car was being driven carefully and at a moderate pace.

There was no blame to be attached to the driver.

A verdict of “Accidental death” was returned
