Notable Recruits to Mitchell Main C.C.

Among the new recruits to Mitchell Main, an important one is WG Jessop, stationmaster on the L.N.E. railway at Wombwell who succeeded to that position last year.

Mr Jessop has come with a good record as a batsmen in the Derbyshire league and no doubt will do the club a lot of good. Another newcomer is Howard Harding, also on the staff of the L.N.E. who has done well with both bat and ball in the Grimsby league.

The attack will be sent in by the introduction of Eric Hughes, whose father was recently appointed manager at Mitchell Main. He has a good reputation as a right fast arm bowler and has not took many good scores in the Yorkshire Council Cricket with the Doncaster district club.

Finally there is talk of an ex-army recruit and the Yorkshire “cult” whose name cannot be mentioned at the moment.

Then there is a notable youngster Roy Cooling, a 16 year old county schoolboy cricketer.
