played on the ground of the former on Saturday, on a wretched wicket, when the visitors won easily by nine wickets, mainly owing to their good all round fielding, and the bowling of Nicholson and Jackson, the former (not out 22) and Alice (not out 21) also batted well considering the wicket.

Wheatcroft, W. Betts and Sayles was the only ones to offer any resistance to the Mexborough bowling.

This match which created considerable interest, was played at Mitchell’s Main on Saturday. The visitors, who are the holders of 2 cups, were well represented, and ran up a total of 102.

WH Priestley and Doctor McSweeney the first to bat for Mitchell’s, the doctor being caught and bowled by Scargill. Priestley was got at 19 and Bedford at 23. Robinson took his place and he and Morley raised the score to 59. At the call of time the score stood at 73 with five wickets to fall.

Played at Swinton on Saturday. For the home team Wilson took five wickets for 10 runs and Belk three for 17. The visitors were only weakly represented, and were two players short.

Played on the ground of the former on Monday, and resulted in an easy victory for the home team. W Adams, Taylor, Davies and W Musgrove batted in fine form.

This match was played at Laughton on Whitmonday, and ended in an easy win for the visitors, chiefly owing to the battle to the batting of Oldale and Bilham, two old Laughton players, and the fine bowling of Beckett and Cooke, the former taking seven wickets for 11 runs, and also doing the “hat-trick,” while the latter took two for eight.
