Wombwell Officer Dies In India

The death occurred at Secunderabad, India, on January 10 of Lieut. the Rev. Reginald Ughtred Lockwood, youngest son of the late Mr. R Walker Lockwood, of Wombwell.

In the early days of the war he joined the Army whilst a student at Didsbury College, Manchester, but was discharge after a few service owing to ill-health.

After being ordained in 1916 he left for India as missionary, where he laboured in the Hydarabad circuit.

A few months ago, owing to his knowledge of the Hindoo language, he was gazetted to a native Labour Battalion.

It is to be regretted that he has been taken away at the outset of a promising career, and much sympathy is felt for his family and with his fiancée, Miss Volckman, also of India, a niece of Sir Robert Perks.

Mr Lockwood preached in the Wesleyan Chapel, Wombwell after he was ordained.
