Private T H Whitehouse (picture, left) of 46 Snapehill Road Darfield 71, after serving nearly 2 years in France, is now in hospital at Stapleton Park, Pontefract with severe gas poisoning.
Before enlistment in January he worked at Houghton Main.
He is a well-known local athlete, and was very successful on the cycling track.
Sapper E Whitehouse

His brother, Sapper C Whitehouse (Royal Engineers),(picture right) 9 Albion Rd, Stairfoot, enlisted in November 1915 and was only training a fortnight before going to France.
After having been once gas and once wounded he is now in hospital in London, with a severe gunshot wound in the right shoulder.
He formerly worked at Mitchell Main.
The White House brothers belong to a well-known Wombwell family
