Killed In Pit
“Accidental Death” of Birdwell Man
A verdict of “Accidental death” was returned at an inquest at Wath yesterday on Albert Wilkinson, of Parker’s terrace. Chapel street, Birdwell, who was killed by fall of roof at Cortonwood Colliery Thursday.
It was stated that the working place was apparently safe and well timbered. While Wilkinson and Harry Count, of Roebuck street, Wombwell, were shovelling all there was a weight hump. Count found Wilkinson pinned beneath a large piece of stone. He was released in 15 minutes but was dead.
Wilkinson was described by the deputy, George Lee of Dearne Road, Brampton, as “a very good and careful workman.”
