Boston had practically all the play in the first half, but few minutes before the interval Wombwell broke away, and N. Smith headed past Wilson.

In the second half Reid equalised from penalty, and ten minutes before the end Chambers gave Boston the lead with simple shot. Immediately afterwards Menlove put Boston further ahead. A. Smith, the Wombwell goalkeeper, played a brilliant game.
