Reverent Leaving for Liverpool

August 1927

Mexborough and Swinton Times August 12, 1927

The Rev F Dean Perkins is not one of the most demonstrative of men, but that his ministry at the Wombwell Wesleyan Church has been warmly appreciated, was shown by the feeling expressed on Sunday evenings when members of the congregation present him with a timepiece.

Mr Perkins will be leaving shortly of Liverpool. Mr GW Simpson, the junior steward, made the presentation. He said that both by precept and example Mr Perkins has been a great inspiration to the workers associated with the church. It would be exceedingly difficult adequately to fill his place.

Appreciation Mr Perkins work was also supported by Mr G Summers the senior steward.

In accepting the gift, Mr Perkins said he had only done his duty as a minister of the Gospel. He appreciated the kind sentiments and would leave with memories of many happy friendships. His stay in Wombwell has been an enjoyable one.

Mr Perkins came to Wombwell from Nottingham, having previously laboured in Dorset, Hereford, the Isle of Man and Somerset. He is keen on cricket, tennis, golf and other sports, and has served for two years as president of the Wombwell Sunday School Cricket League.
