Seaman A Gardner, Royal Navy, Kings Rd, Wombwell, has been serving in the Navy 18 months, and has fought in several engagements.

Before enlistment, he was a porter at the Great Central Station, Wombwell.

Leading Seaman Charles Mitchell, Royal Navy, of Summer Lane, Wombwell, won the Distinguished Service Medal, while serving in HMS Spitfire at the battle of Jutland.
