Wombwell Salvationist Officers

Wombwell Salvationists have given an enthusiastic welcome this week to Ensign and Mrs Starling.

They have come to Wombwell from Durham to carry on and develop the work of Captain and Mrs WH Webb in and around the Citadel in Station Road. The new offices have already introduced themselves to Christian workers of other denominations and the impression created is that they are likely to have a very successful mission in Wombwell.

Mr and Mrs Starling have held their commissions for seven years.

Mrs Starling served five years in Ireland before marriage and passed through some very trying experiences.

Ensign Starling commenced his career at Scarborough in 1920, and his experiences in the mining districts of Durham and Northumberland should help him considerably here. He served in the British army throughout the Great War was in France for three years.

Mr and Mrs Starling are shortly to inaugurate a campaign in Darfield.

An additional officer, Lt Singleton is to commence duty at Darfield on Whit Sunday.
