Fall Down Shaft

A verdict that he “killed himself in a fit of depression” was returned on John William Goldthorpe (74), retired Miner, of 131, Barnsley Road, Wombwell.

Goldthorpe sustained fatal injuries in a fall down the shaft of the Mitchell Main colliery at which he was formerly employed.

His health had been bad recently.
