Private Joseph Burton
Mrs Preston has received the following letter concerning the death in action of her brother, who was attached to the East Lanc. Regiment:
“I am sorry to convey news of the death of your brother, Private Joseph Burton. I have known him for quit ea long time now, and have always found him to be one of the best.
During all the long period he has been with us he has not lost his enthusiasm. I am sure he will be a great loss to the regiment, for he has always been a good and willing worker, and was ready to help with everything.
I know that words are but poor solace, but I must convey my sincerest sympathy.
D.B.Barr, 2nd Lieut.”
