Mr. Fison is announced to visit Mexboro’ on Tuesday next.

The busiest portion of Mexboro’ is now without a Post Office.

A general meeting of Warren Vale miners is to be held on Saturday.

The Mexboro’ Cricket Club ball will take place next Wednesday night.

Swinton Parish Church tea is announced to take place on Thursday next.

The old folks’ treat on Monday in the Congregational Church was a great success.

Our January railway guide remains in force, no alterations having taken place.

The Great Northern Railway Company have declared a dividend of four per cent.

A Swinton passenger sailed in the White Star s.s. Celtic on Wednesday for New York.

The Mexboro’ and District Reservists’ dinner has been fixed for Wednesday, February 24th.

The old folks’ treat on Monday, in the Congregational Church, Mexboro’, was a great success.

A Mexboro’ young man met with an accident at Dovecote on Thursday week, which resulted fatally.

Mrs. Wignmore’s condition remains about the same.

At a Swinton sale, on Thursday week, a Rotherham jeweller paid £16 for a pair of antique silver candlesticks.

On Thursday next another meeting is to be held at Mr. Crook’s, Wath Road, Mexboro’, to form a Ratepayers’ Association.

Mr. Wilkinson, vice-chairman of Swinton School Board, has been appointed secretary to the Mexborough Co-operative Society.

A Young Men’s Institute and Club has been formed in Wath Road, with headquarters at Mr. Crook’s refreshment rooms.

The Mexboro’ Working Men’s Club have most generously voted £5 towards the forthcoming local Reservists’ welcome home dinner.

The scholars attending the Upper Standard Schools in Main Street, Mexboro’, were flooded out on Thursday, and had to return home.

Upwards of 30 men are daily employed at the Old Forge Works by Baker and Co., of Rotherham, in clearing away the old buildings.

At a recent funeral in Mexboro’, the grave was found to be of insufficient length, and the mourning party had to wait whilst it was enlarged.

The new Post Office in Main Street, Mexborough, has been closed very hastily, Mr. Moore having intimated to the authorities that he would not be “bothered with the work any longer.”

Mr. J. A. R. Lee, chemist, Mexboro’, has passed the Medical Preliminary Examination of the College of Preceptors, in the Honours Division.

It is almost certain two large works will be established on this estate by Messrs. John Baker and Co., but no definite intentions have yet been decided upon.

The marriage arranged between Captain Malhart M. H. Neville, 5th Fusiliers, and Miss Evelyn S. Montagu, will take place on Friday, February 12th, at St. James’ Church, High Melton.

At the general meeting of the Mexboro’ Working Men’s Club, held on Wednesday, a grant of £5 5s. was voted to the fund for welcoming home the Reservists and Volunteers who took part in the South African War.
