Thunderstorm

This neighbourhood was on Sunday and Monday visited by another thunderstorm, accompanied by rain.

Houses Struck by Lightning at Denaby Main

Two houses at Cliff View, Denaby Main, on Monday were struck by lightning, which descended the chimneys, rent the mantel-pieces, and disturbed the furniture, then passing away.

The houses are occupied by miners named Bainton and Feeney, and the son of the former was stunned by an electric shock which affected him for some time.

At Wombwell, at about one o’clock, a house in Church Street belonging to Mrs. Wild, and occupied by Mr. Fred Oxley, was struck by lightning, the roof being very much damaged and the slates removed, but happily none of the inmates were injured.

Eight Sheep Killed

On Sunday night a great storm occurred at Doncaster.

Eight sheep, belonging to Mr. Curtis, of the Black Boy Inn, were killed by the lightning in a field at Bennetthorpe.
