The South Yorkshire Coal Trade with Hull

The returns for the past month which have just been issued show that during that time the quantity of coal sent to Hull was 115,672 tons, against 115,234 tons in the corresponding period of last year, whilst the quantity sent during the five months of the year was 506,192 tons, against 494,404 tons in the corresponding period of last year. There was a substantial increase in the exports from Hull during the month, but on the first five months in the year there was a slight decrease.

Last month Denaby Main sent 17,048 tons, against 12,976 tons in the previous month. Manvers Main sent 6,408 tons against 5,640 tons; Cortonwood 2,080, against 1,656 tons; Wath Main sent only 728 tons, against 2,264 tons; Lundhill, 2,112 tons against 1,224 tons; Darfield Main 1,104 tons, against 960 tons; Hoyland Silkstone 848 tons, against 208 tons in May last year; Earl Fitzwilliam’s collieries 6,052 tons, against 4,400 tons. Several of the West Riding collieries, including Whitwood and the West Riding Silkstone pits, show large decreases on the month.
