Kilner And Burkinshaw
Breezy Batting At Mitchell

Mitchell lacked forcefulness in their match with Rockingham on Saturday and, left with little under two hours in which to get over 200 runs, could only draw.
On an excellent wicket there was some fine batting on both sides. Although Rockingham lost their first two wickets cheaply a brilliant display by Stones put them in a favourable position. Stones made light of the Mitchell attack, which at no time lost its accuracy. and was undefeated for 100 when Rockingham declared at 221 for six wickets. He scored freely with well-placed shots. Atkinson joined him in an aggressive partnership and compiled 48 before he was caught by Utting. Ivill was caught before he had a chance to get into his stride. Rockingham declared a little before six o’clock. Burkinshaw, opening with Wilkes for Mitchell, gave a delightful display of easy scoring. Wilkes was dismissed for one and Broadhead fared little better.
At this stage it seemed as though a collapse would set in, but Colin Kilner came to the rescue. Following his brilliant display the previous Thursday, Kilner batted in most attractive style and looked good for his century when time was called. His partnership with Burkinshaw was the best thing about a game which was always interesting. Scores:
