Wombwell Man in Accident at Huddersfield
Thrown Against Tramcar

Police-constable Wilfred Lines (22), single, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Lines, of 64. Hough Lane, Wombwell, was fatally injured in a motor accident at Thornton Lodge Huddersfield, on Wednesday. Lines, who was driving a motor-cycle, came into collision with a motor-car.
He was thrown from the machine and his head struck a stationary tram-car. The accident occurred shortly after four o’clock in the afternoon and he died in the Royal Infirmary, Huddersfield, four hours later. his parents having been summoned from Wombwell. He was well known in Wombwell, where he was formerly employed at the shop of Mr. A. Hayes Empire Buildings, Wombwell, and later at Wombwell Main Colliery.
When 18 he joined the Coldstream Guards and he served for three years. Joining the West Riding constabulary six months ago he has been stationed at Slaithwaite. He bought the machine he was riding only a week ago and last Monday came over to Wombwell to show it to his parents, taking his youngest sister for a run. His father is a road-worker for the Wombwell Urban Council.
