Signed for Derry City

Among Barnsley’s captures last season was Ashley Hobson, from Wombwell, who had had experience with Norwich City and Leeds United. Aged 22 he stands 5ft. 10 and weighs 11st. 9. and the brilliance of Whitworth kept this promising half out of the first team.
He has now signed for Derry City, an Irish League club and crossed the Irish Sea the other week-end in a gale. The boat was three hours late and the passengers had the worst crossing for 20 years. Ashley was “under the weather” when he arrived at Londonderry, but has since written home, and is full of enthusiasm for his new club.
Hobson graduated from Monk Bretton school and Cudworth Village.
