Yorkshire Traction Co. announce a drastic curtailment of bus services from November 1st.
Magistrates at Rotherham West Riding Court on Monday were Mr. W. Dyson (chairman), Mrs. M. Dunn. Mr. A. M. IL Turner, Mr. A. Ruud’. In the first court; Mr. P. B. Nicholson (presiding), Mr. 8. C. Ward and Mr. W. Rasta.
Wombwell Red Cross Committee , of which Mrs. P. M. Walker, of Wombwell Grange, is chairman, have voted £100 towards Lady Cripp’s National Aid-for-China Appeal. They also voted £62 towards their prisoners -of-war fund, making £130 for the year.
At the quarterly meeting of the Co-operative Wholesale Society, Ltd., in Manchester on Saturday last, Sir William Bradshaw. (chairman) announced that the total sales for the half-year ended July 11th last were £75,222,032, an increase of 11 per cent. over the corresponding period of last year.
The death has occurred at the age of 53 of Mr. Richard G. Eaton, joint managing director of Shipley Collieries. Ltd., Ilkeston Collieries, Ltd., and Mitchell Main Colliery Co., Ltd. He was the only son of the late Mr. John Eaton, JP, Cliff House, Clowne, and for many years manager of Barlborough Col- liery (Staveley Coal and Iron Company).
Wath Grammar School boys’ earnings at their recent harvest camp were approximately £200.
Mr P. B. Nicholson, J.P,, of Cortonwood, was elected hon. Treasure of the British Road Tar Association in London on Wednesday.
Mrs Lloyd George, wife of Major G. Lloyd George, Minister of Fuel and Power, paid a visit to Manvers Main Colliery during her husband’s Yorkshire coalfield tour this week.
Mrs. Honeywill, of Adwick-on-Dearne, will open the Mexborough chrysanthemum Show on November 6th, at the Free Christen Church. The Proceeds are for the Montagu Hospital.
About 140 members of the Yorkshire Mineworkers’ Association, many of whom work at the coal face, will represent the Association at the London meeting which the Crime Minister will address on Saturday.
The Ladies’ Committee of the Montagu Hospital are busy with their Silver Tree effort on December 10th. Last year they raised pinion £332. The target this year is £400. Mr and Mrs. Mark Le Brun, of Thurnscoe, have promised to act host and hostess on this occasion.
