Prisoner Of War
Official news has reached the wife and parents of Ernest Wilkinson (29), of George Street, Low Valley, that he is a prisoner of war in Italian hands. He joined the R.A.S.C. nearly two years ago.
He was at Tobruk some months ago and no news was heard of him until the news arrived, stating that he was a prisoner of war.
He has two children. His brother Roy, is a petty officer and was a survivor of the “Repulse.”
He, too, has had thrilling experiences at Singapore and Java. He has now joined an Australian ship and hopes to get a leave In the near future.
They are the only sons of Mr. and Mrs. E. Wilkinson, of Providence Street, Low Valley. Prior to the war Ernest carried on a butchering business at Low Valley.
