Weak Milk

Brampton Dealer Fined

For having sold adulterated milk, James Raynor, milk dealer, of 2 Wath Road, Brampton Bierlow, was fined £2 2s at Rotherham on Monday, and also ordered to pay £2 2s costs.

Alec Nobbs, Inspector under the Food and Drugs Acts, state that he took a sample of milk from Raynor at Brampton Bierlow on May 26th and on analysis it was found to contain 6.6 per cent of added water.

Mr. A. S. Furniss appeared for the defendant and said Raynor had a contract to take the whole of the supplies of milk off a West Melton farmer, but unfortunately for him he had no guarantee as to the quality of the milk.  Raynor admitted the analysis, but this was not a very large discrepancy.
