A Wombwell man, L.A/c Ernest Shepherd, youngest son of Mr Fred Shepherd, 35 Concrete Cottages, Wombwell is serving the R.A.F. in Malta.

He played for Dearne Valley Schoolboys’  football team, and after leaving school worked in a Bradford Mill, lateer becoming an overseer.

He played football in Bradford Rel Triangle League and won two cups.  L.A/c._Shepherd was signed by Falkam F.C. with whom he played for two seasons. At the outbreak of war he joined the R.A.F. and twelve months ago went to Malta.

He writes home to say he is in the best of health and asks to be remembered to friends.
