Wombwell Footballer

Former footballer friends will be pleased to hear of Gunner Charles Allen (36), R.A., of 13, Wath Road, Wombwell, who is now serving in a distant part of this country.

He writes to say he is fit and well and still enjoying a spot of football.

Allen left Cortonwood Colliery to join up a year ago.

He will be remembered as a former playing member of Wombwell (Midland League) and Barnsley football clubs. He also played for Mitchell Main, and has five cup medals, including the Barnsley Beckett and the Montagu.

He has a wife and one child.
