Wombwell Man as Interpreter.
Pte. Leonard Lawson (23), Y. and L. Regiment, son of Mr. W. E. Lawson, 23, Mitchell Terrace, Wombwell, is a prisoner in Stalag VIII. 8., Germany.
Lawson is an old boy of John Street Council School, Wombwell, and prior to enlistment in Oct., 1939, was employed at Brightside Foundry. He had previously worked at Wombwell Main Colliery.
As an assistant transport driver he was endeavouring to reach Dunkirk in May, 1940, when he was taken prisoner.
