In Iceland

Pte. George Auckland (22). son of Mr. and Mrs. John Auckland. 26, Alma Street, Wombwell, joined the Army to see the world.

Up to now he has seen little but snow and rain. That is because he is in the land of ‘ depressions “—lceland.

An old boy of Park Street Council School, Wombwell. Pte. Auckland left work as a haulage hand at Houghton Main to join up in November, 1939. He has now been in Iceland twelve months—which he says is enough for anybody. Nevertheless, he gets plenty of fun among the boys and is in good health and spirits. He is a member of Station Road W.M.C., Wombwell.
