Another from Wombwell

Another old boy of John Street Council School, Wombwell, now on the war “honours board” is Driver Douglas Dyer (22), son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Dyer, of 57, Bartholomew Street, Wombwell.

On January 2nd he joined the R.A.S.C., and is now attached to the motor transport section.

A former keen supporter of New Guinea F.C., Driver Dyer was a fitter in the Beamshaw seam at Wombwell Main Colliery before joining up.

Four of his uncles served in the last war.
