Chips off The Old Block
Sons of Mr. and Mrs. W. Hill of 25, Preston Avenue, Jump, Ralph and Norman Hill, well known figures in the village, are both serving in the Royal Corps of Signals.
Ralph has been in the Army twelve years and has had four years in India. He is married and has one child and his home address is Broomhead Road, Wombwell.
Norman (picture) left Elsecar Main Colliery to enlist last April and is already with the B.E.F. His “stretch” is for twelve years. He writes some very cheery letters and obviously is enjoying the novelty of being abroad.
These lads are following in father’s footsteps. Mr. Hill was in the Great War and served altogether seven years in the Lancashire Fusiliers.
