He’s Popular-He’s a Cook

William Hector Parkin (25), son of Mr. and Mrs. John Parkin, of 7, Mellor Road, Wombwell, belongs to a rating which has always been very “popular.” He is a cook!

Parkin attended Barnsley Road and John Street Schools, Wombwell, and later was employed as a vanman by a local firm of confectioners.

He joined the Navy about two and a half years ago and for a time served in the “Courageous,” to leave which he was very reluctant at the time. In his naval career he has visited almost every part of the world and has crossed the Equator seven times. He regrets he was not home to be best man for his  sister’s wedding.
