“Nowhere In England”

That is the nearest address we can give of Pte. J. Hickling, who is possibly the only Broomhiller serving abroad at the moment. The lads of the village will be glad to know that he is “fighting fit ” and in good spirits.

Pte. Hickling is the youngest son of Mr. John Hickling, of Wombwell Junction. He served six years in the East with the K.0.Y.L.I. and at the outbreak of war was called up as a reservist.

An employee of Wath Main Colliery Company, he was married a little over a year ago to Miss Helen Marshall of the Post Office, Broomhill, Wombwell.

In the Army Pte. Hickling has won medals for both football and boxing.
