Joining Up

Scouting at Wombwell, and incidentally the local postal staff, will be depleted by the departure on Monday of Rover J. W. Jennings, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Jennings, of 9, Hadfield Street, Wombwell.

A sorter and telegraphist in Wombwell Post Office, he is to join the Royal Corps of Signals. Rover Jennings has had a good deal of experience in scouting and was one of the founders of the Rover Crew at Wombwell about two years ago. Two others were Tom Blackburn (now in the Navy) and Ralph Connelly        (who has joined the R.A.F.).

The three services are therefore represented in the crew.

Jennings attended King’s Road School, Wombwell, the Senior School. Wombwell, and Wath Grammar School, the last on a County Minor Scholarship. He has been in Wombwell Post Office two years and has done work for the local A.F.S.
