These teams met in the first round of the above contest on Saturday, at Wombwell Main, before a large number of spectators.
Beverley, for the visitors, started the game, which foe the first ten minutes was very even, when by the efforts of Hinchcliffe the home team registered their first goal, which was followed some minutes later by a second.
A Good play was shown by both teams up to half-time, but without any further result, the game standing 2-0.
In the second half the game was very lively. Soon after play was commenced Hinchcliffe, from a good run, shot right in the goal mouth. W. Schofield doing the needful.
After this play became fast, and the first goal for the visitors was registered by Martin. A corner followed a few minutes later, but nothing came of it. The visitors continued to press, and though the home custodian kept fisting out, Broadhead registered another goal for the visitors. Shortly after this the same player, from a corner kick. headed through, and equalised the score. At this point matters got very lively, and though the home team tried hard to avert defeat, they were unsuccessful, the fourth goal being registered for the visitors just on the call of time.
