Spending a three weeks holiday in the Bahamas last Christmas, Mr. Stuart Wardell (26), only son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wardell of 10, Broomhead Road, Wombwell, had a taste of life on that “paradise” Island.
Now he has obtained a post there, and is to fly from Heathrow, London, on Sunday, September 28th.
He will join his fiancee, Miss Yvonne Hirst (22), who a few weeks ago joined her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Hirst, who went from Westfield road, Brampron, three years ago. Miss Hirst has just graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree at Hammerton College, Camebridge, and has obtained a teaching post in the Bahamas.
A former pupil of Park Street Council School and Wombwell High School, Mr. Wardell studied technical subjects, and continued his education at Barnsley Technical College and Bradfield College of Technology.
At Mexborough.
He is now a qualified building inspector and previously worked in the surveyors departments of Mexborough and Doncaster local authorities. For the past 12 months he has been employed as technical representative with Bartol Plastics at Swinton. He has obtained a post as field engineer with the Bahamas Cement Company at Freeport in the Bahamas. He is a member of Old Wathonians Rugby Club, who are to hold a farewell party on September 26th.
Miss Hirst has paid twice yearly visits to her parents in the Bahamas. She and Mr. Wardell announced their engagement on her 21st birthday at Easter last year, when her parents where spending a holiday in this country.
Mrs. Hirst was formerly Miss Mary Askew, whose mother lives in Wentworth Road, Brampton.
Mr. Wardell gained a Higher National Certificate in building at Barnsley Technical College and a Municipal Engineers Building Inspector’s Certificate at Bradford Technical College.
