A Wombwell Assault.
Walter Afford, miner, Wombwell, was summoned at Wednesday’s West Riding Court for assaulting Eliza Parker.
Mr. Pratt, for complainant said the parties resided In Edward Street, Wombwell, living next door but one to each other. The children of the parties played together in a common yard, and, an did, they quarrelled and then made it up.
Defendant had been rather inclined to take his children’s part, and this led to the trouble.
Defendant “landed out” at complainant and gave her a blow on the throat with his fist.
Defendant, who said he only pushed her, was fined 10s and costs, the Chairman telling him that be was not take the law into his own hands.
