Sunday School Superintendent
A new chapter has been opened in the history of the United Methodist Church in Cemetery Rd., Wombwell, by the appointment of Mr. Edward Lawrence as Sunday School superintendent.

He was on the roll of scholars when the Sunday School used to meet in Bond Street. Later the friends took over an upper room in Hawson Street and later still found accommodation in the Spiritualists’ Hall in Melville Street.
The existing church in Cemetery Road was opened in 1887. Mr. Lawrence has also held the position of choirmaster for 30 years. Mr. J. Mottram has been appointed assistant superintendent.
