Fatality at Wombwell Main.

A fatal accident took place at the Wombwell Main Colliery late on Friday evening to young man named Edward Saw, of Wombwell Lane, New Wombwell.

At the time of the accident Saw was at the jenny head waiting for the lad jennying a run of empty tubs up.

Ten of the 12 full corves broke loose, and ran the bottom, a distance of about 100 yards coming in contact with some empty corves.

As result they struck Saw just below the heart.

He was speedily conveyed the pit bottom, where he died a few minutes later.
