Roy Kilner at Lords
Wombwell heard with great pleasure of Roy Kilner’s part in the splendid Yorkshire performance at Lord’s last Saturday when, faced with an almost certain innings defeat by the M.C.C., the Tykes set their teeth and ran up a Mammoth score of 592, and then declared and left off in a winning position.
For the second match in succession Roy Kilner registered a century, 120, and shared the honours of the match with the wonderful veteran, George Hirst, and, of course, Hemdren, who took a double hundred out of the Yorkshire bowling.
In spite of the M.C.C.’s big batting, Kilner had the very useful bowling figures of 3 for 29.
The “Daily Chronicle” describes Kilner as among the best left-handed batsmen in the country.” if he is not quite the best he soon will be.
